Samia, Mwinyi to grace launching of Salim Ahmed Salim’s Digital Archive
President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to grace the official launch of Salim Ahmed Salim’s Digital Archive on September 30, 2023, the family of the former Tanzania’s Prime Minister said Tuesday.
Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi will also participate in launching the archive aimed at “providing a window into history through the eyes of Dr Salim,” who also served as the Secretary General of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU) from 1989 to 2001.
In a statement released by the former leader’s office on Tuesday, other guests who will grace the ceremony include current and former government leaders, development partners, and representatives from the private sector, academia, and civil society.
“The archive collects videos, images and text documents – such as speeches, notes, and academic papers – of Dr Salim,” the statement said.

Embassy of Sweden, Scania join forces to promote clean transport in Tanzania
The Embassy of Sweden in Tanzania, in close collaboration with Swedish transport company Scania, announced Tuesday the official launch of a ground-breaking Clean Transport Tour from Dar es Salaam to the capital of Dodoma.
Scheduled for October 2 and October 5, 2023, the initiative seeks to catalyse the transition to sustainable and eco-friendly transport systems in Tanzania while celebrating 60 years of impactful development cooperation between Sweden and Tanzania.
A statement released by the embassy on Tuesday quoted Ambassador of Sweden to Tanzania Charlotta-Ozaki Macias saying that Tanzania and Sweden have, in close partnership, worked in almost all sectors of society during the last 60 years.

New EU Ambassador to Tanzania presents credentials to President Samia
Christine Grau, the new European Union Ambassador to Tanzania, officially assumed her role by presenting her credentials to President Samia Suluhu Hassan Monday at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
During the occasion, Ambassador Grau expressed her deep appreciation for her warm welcome in Tanzania. She conveyed the EU’s continuous commitment to strengthening the already close partnership between the EU and Tanzania.
“I am truly honoured to serve as the EU Ambassador to Tanzania. I am strongly committed to deepening the bonds between the EU and Tanzania,” Ms Grau said.
