The workshop, themed “The SADC Protocol Against Corruption @20 – Facilitating Sustainable Cooperation for Economic Integration, Peace, Security, and Good Governance in the SADC Region,” provides a platform for regional leaders and stakeholders to reflect on two decades of implementation, assess progress, identify gaps, and chart future priorities and recommendations.
Monday’s winners, if approved by relevant party organs, will represent CCM —which has held power for over six decades—in the upcoming October 28, 2025 general elections.

Tanzania’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Director of Elections, Ramadhani Kailima, has stated that there has been no increase in the number of voters in the permanent voter register compared to the population projections based on the census, contrary to claims made by some individuals.
Speaking to Azam Media on August 3, 2025, Rostam described Polepole as part of an “invasive leadership class” that infiltrated CCM post-2015 and were handed influential positions despite lacking deep knowledge of the party’s history and culture.
With a capacity to handle up to 300,000 containers annually, the facility is projected to reduce congestion at the Dar es Salaam Port by 30 percent and significantly cut down the number of cargo trucks entering the city center.
Mantra Tanzania, the company behind the project, is a subsidiary of Uranium One Group, which is owned by Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation, ROSATOM. The Government of Tanzania holds a 20% ownership stake in the venture.
