In collaboration with the Africa Union and Elevate AI, Tanzania will host the awarding ceremony for the African Youth Artificial Intelligence and Robotics competition in October 2024. This was revealed today May 17, 2024, by Tanzania’s Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information Communication and Information Technology, Mr. Mohammed Khamis Abdulla.
“This youth competition was officially launched on February 29, 2024, through the websites of the Ministry of Information Communication and Information Technology, the ICT Commission, and Elevate AI. This competition will officially close on July 8, 2024, and the winners will be announced on August 31, 2024,” announced Mr. Abdulla.

The competition has ten categories including AI and innovation in mining; futuristic fintech solutions; robotics design; healthcare solutions, education enhancement; Ethical A; agricultural solutions; community impact and good governance innovation; open category; as well as the innovation in the construction and architecture industry.
The winner in each category will be awarded a total of USD 100,000 prize.The awarding ceremony for the winners of the competition will be held during the during the eighth Tanzania Annual ICT Conference, a platform that brings together stakeholders including academia, researchers, development partners, business industry, investors and youth in digital innovation spaces and practitioners in the ICT Industry.
The conference will be held at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam from October 13 to 17, 2024

The competition are part of the Africa Union strategy in equipping the continent with the needed skills as the world progressed towards emerging technologies.
