The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, visited Tanzania on Monday, July 14, 2025. He was received by his host, Tanzania’s Chief of Defence Force, General Jacob John Mkunda.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Al Mazrouei inspected a guard of honor and held talks with his Tanzanian counterpart at the army headquarters in Upanga.
In a report, the Tanzanian Ministry of Defense highlighted that General Mkunda expressed pride in the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in addressing security threats such as terrorism and human trafficking. He also noted collaboration in other areas, including training, research, culture, sports, and the strengthening of border security.
Military cooperation between the UAE and Tanzania continues to grow. In February 2025, the UAE donated a CN235M medium-range, twin-engine transport aircraft for military use to Tanzania. Additionally, the country signed a military cooperation agreement with the UAE-based EDGE Group to support the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) in enhancing its industrial capacity through defense-related industries.
