Dar es Salaam. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation has expressed concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East, assuring citizens that the government is closely monitoring developments and maintaining contact with its diplomatic missions in the region.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania is following the unfolding events with keen attention amid rising tensions.
“The Government is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with our diplomatic Missions in the region,” the statement read.
The ministry also issued a travel advisory to Tanzanian nationals residing in or traveling through affected areas, urging them to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety. Citizens were advised to adhere strictly to guidance provided by local authorities and Tanzanian diplomatic missions.
While the statement did not specify the countries involved, it emphasized Tanzania’s support for international efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability.
The government reiterated its solidarity with the global community in calling for restraint and de-escalation, stressing the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Tanzania’s appeal comes as diplomatic efforts intensify worldwide to prevent further instability in the Middle East following attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. Tehran has since responded with strikes targeting U.S. bases and assets in several Middle Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.
