The mother of 30-year-old Juma Shafii Kijazi, also known as Jimmy, has pleaded for the release of her son, who she says was abducted on October 21, 2026, in the Kinondoni Manyanya area of Dar es Salaam. As in many other reported abductions, the men who took him were said to be armed and traveling in a white Land Cruiser.

“I am heartbroken. Since 21 October until today, I haven’t had so much as a sip of water. I have no idea what state my son is in: whether he’s eating, whether he’s sleeping, or whether he’s dead,” said Salma Juma Shakivuli, speaking about her firstborn.

She added: “You men who took my son, bring him back; take him to the police if you must. I’m begging you to return my son to me, wherever he is. I am his mother. I’m pleading with you, please bring my son back to me.”

Kijazi is one of the breadwinners in his family. Although he is not married and has no children, he helps pay for the education of his younger brother, who recently completed his O-Level studies. His mother said he is also a supporter of CHADEMA, though he holds no official title or role in the party.

“This is Kinondoni Manyanya. My son worked here selling chips; he would stay up all night at the chips stand. They came and abducted him at eight in the morning in a [White] Land Cruiser and drove off with him to an unknown place. It was 21 October,” his mother told The Chanzo.

The men, who did not identify themselves, were wearing Simba jerseys, according to witnesses. A coffee seller was also taken during the incident after the abductors apparently suspected he was filming them. He was later dumped in the Msasani area.

“As I speak today, on the 23rd, I still don’t know where my son is. I went to Oysterbay Police Station and we filed a report, and we went around to every police station, but I haven’t seen my son,” she said. The case has been reported at Oysterbay Police Station under reference number OYB/RB/7259/2026.

“I thought maybe I’d find him at Oysterbay, that they’d tell me he’d done something and was being taken to court, but he wasn’t there. We tried every station; my son is nowhere to be found. Wherever he is, bring my son back. Take him to court,” she added.

The incident has raise alarm to collegue who work with Juma, many are fearful to even speak about the event which some have connected with Juma’s support of the opposition party CHADEMA and activism in general.
