The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, met with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Foreign Minister, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
According to information from the State House, Foreign Minister Wagner delivered a special message from DRC President Félix Tshisekedi to President Samia. However, no further details about the message have been disclosed by either party.
The DRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that discussions between President Samia and Minister Wagner focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
“For Tanzania, the DRC is and remains a special neighbor and partner,” the DRC Foreign Minister said in an official statement.
Tanzania has long been committed to regional peace efforts in the DRC and has contributed peacekeeping troops through both the United Nations Mission and the regional SADC Mission.
Minister Wagner’s visit to Tanzania followed her trip to Burundi, where she met with President Évariste Ndayishimiye and delivered a message from President Tshisekedi.
