“Following extensive investigations, the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police have apprehended a group of eight suspects accused of conspiring to orchestrate and execute the abduction. The suspects were arrested at different locations, including Dar es Salaam, Songea in Ruvuma, and Mbingu-Mlimba in Morogoro,” the statement read.
This arrest comes 23 days after a video of the attempted abduction went viral, showing Tarimo resisting three men outside the Rovenpick Hotel in Kiluvya. The footage captured Tarimo pleading for help, saying, “They are going to kill me. I don’t know them,” as the suspects tried to force him into their minivan.
Police Spokesperson David Misime earlier confirmed that Tarimo reported the incident at Gogoni Police Station. Preliminary investigations revealed that Tarimo was lured to the location under the guise of a business meeting arranged since October 25, 2024.
The police also recovered a Toyota Raum vehicle, allegedly used in the attempted abduction. The car initially displayed falsified registration plates T 237 EGE, but investigations revealed its genuine number, T 237 ECF.
Commander Muliro emphasized the police’s commitment to combating criminal activities and holding all perpetrators accountable. Investigations into the Tarimo case are ongoing, with assurances that justice will be served.
